Students were able to choose a Historical Fiction Book to read in a book club with fellow classmates. Huge thanks to the NEF (Northview Education Foundation) for our grant allowing us to have the option of over 20 new titles (with multiples) for students to choose from.
Students will be meeting daily with their book clubs to discuss and read their books. Some of the assignments include: Discussion posts, Timeline, Historical Research and an Agenda Calendar. |
Reading Log CalendarStudents had to plan out their reading schedule with their groups. To hold each other accountable and also to be able to finish the book in time. Book needs to be completed by Wednesday 3/30
Daily AgendasEach day the book club group will create an agenda of what they want to get accomplished. Only one is needed to turn in at the end of the unit.
|
Discussion PostsBook Clubs will have "Discussion Posts" through the unit- prompting them to have some critical thinking about their books through discussions. These posts will be due the last day of the unit - should be around a 1/2 a page to a page of writing. (Each member has to write a post and initial)
Plot TimelineTimeline of the big points that happen through the story. Each member of the book club will be individually turning in their own timeline (but collaboratively working on it in class). This is a place for students to "Jot" their thinking and follow the story when they are reading at home.
